A complete ban on the sale of betelnut and plastic bags in Papua New Guinea's National Capital District will not come into effect until the end of next month.
The ban was previously scheduled to kick off on Thursday, but the newspaper, The National, reports that government officials attributed the delay to the NCD Commission Board's failure to determine how to implement the ban.
The NCD Governor Powes Parkop early last month publicly announced a complete ban on betelnut and plastic bags in the New Year.
