The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force are moving a step closer to assuming full responsibility for law and order, taking charge of two more provincial police posts.

The police posts at Atoifi and Tulagi are now solely staffed and operated by the RSIP following the withdrawal of their RAMSI advisers.

The Commander of RAMSI and the Participating Police Force or PPF, Denis McDermott congratulated the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force on this latest development.

He says he is proud to say that the mission has progressed to another important milestone in the rebuilding of the Royal Solomon Islands Police and the rebuilding of the confidence of Solomon Islanders in their police.

Meanwhile, the acting Police Commissioner, Peter Marshall, has urged the community served by the two posts in Malaita and Central Provinces to support the good progress now being made by the RSIP.
