The New Zealand government is awaiting word from Fiji whose interim regime is set to expel New Zealand's acting high commissioner, Caroline McDonald.
Fijivillage says it has been told by a senior official that she will be expelled over Wellington's refusal to ease visa restrictions imposed after the 2006 military coup.
It reported that an announcement on the expulsion was to be made today.
The website quotes the official as saying the Commodore blames embassy staff for supplying New Zealand with information about people related to the military and the interim government, and whose visas have been rejected.
Ms McDonald has been in an acting position since June last year when the interim regime expelled the New Zealand high commissioner, Michael Green.
Despite the expulsion threat, the New Zealand government has refused to change its visa policy.
