American Samoa's Governor Togiola Tulafono is trying to get a quorum for the Board of Directors of the American Samoa Visitors Bureau confirmed by the Fono as soon as possible so that the newly created bureau can start functioning.
He has submitted for confirmation the nominations of Alex Sene Junior, President of Inter Island Airways, and businessman Thomas Drabble.
The governor has urged lawmakers to approve the new board members because without a quorum, the newly created Visitors Bureau cannot move forward.
The board has seven directors , and only three have been confirmed so far.
Mr Drabble, the president of the Pago Pago Visitors Association, was rejected by the House of Representatives in the last Fono session.
Governor Togiola said Mr Drabble's s contribution to the development of the visitor industry in the territory, as the owner and operator of Sadie's Restaurant and Inn, Rubble's Tavern, Transpac and Sadie's by the Sea is visible.
Alex Sene Junior is appointed as the airline representative on the board of the American Samoa Visitors Bureau Board.
Mr Sene heads American Samoa's only airline, Inter Island Air which flies to MAnu'a and Samoa.
He is also deputy director of the American Samoa Telecommunications Authority.
