2:05 pm on 25 November 2008

The Vanua'aku Pati, under the leadership of Prime Minister Edward Natapei, has suspended three of its MPs for signing a motion of no-confidence against the government,

Radio Vanuatu reports the suspensions came just hours ahead of this afternoon's expected vote of no-confidence in Mr Natapei's leadership.

Mr Natapei says the party had given the trio time to withdraw their names from the motion but this did not happen, so they were cut from the party.
