The New Caledonian section of the French Socialist Party has expressed its disquiet that its votes were ignored when Martine Aubry was chosen as the party's new secretary-general.
The party narrowly elected her in a run-off with Segolene Royal who last year contested the French presidential election.
New Caledonia's branch overwhelmingly backed Ms Royal.
Although the New Caledonian votes were not counted, a branch delegate in Noumea said they trusted the commissions' impartiality.
