Papua New Guinea Government to sell half of Telikom's mobile phone service

Papua New Guinea is to sell half of its state-owned mobile telephone company.

PNG State Enterprises Minister Arthur Somare says the public-private venture will make PNG Telikom's B Mobile world class

He says the joint venture is better than the two previous unsuccessful privatisation efforts involving Telikom PNG, with just over 50 million US dollars equity investment for 50 percent of B Mobile.

Mr Somare says with B Mobile coming under separate ownership and management, Telikom PNG will be able to focus on expansion of its core activities.
