The Solomon Islands deputy prime minister says the government wants to introduce laws to end party hopping in a bid to increase political stability.
A taskforce looking at the issue has been formed and a workshop was held in Honiara this week to discuss the challenges with all sectors of the community.
The Deputy Prime Minister, Fred Fono, says the country must find a way to address this problem.
"The current government, the C-NURA Government, has seen the need to put in place legislation to try and strengthen political parties, at the same time allow for political stability of governments after general elections so that governments in power continue to implement their programmes during that term."
Fred Fono says a draft bill is expected to be tabled in cabinet in November.
