French Polynesia's ruling To Tatou Aia coalition has selected its two candidates for next month's election to the French senate.
They are President Gaston Tong Sang and Beatrice Vernaudon, who last year lost her seat as a member of the French assembly.
If they are elected senators, they will each have to relinquish one
office in French Polynesia.
President Tong Sang is also still mayor of Bora Bora while Mrs Vernaudon is the mayor of Pirae and a member of the territorial assembly.
As yet, it's not clear what choice they would make.
Among others to run for the senate seats is the incumbent, Gaston Flosse, who is standing with the pro-independence candidate, Richard Tuheiava.
An electoral college of 700 members, made up of assembly members, mayors and council members, will choose the two senators on September the 21st.
