The deputy director-general of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community, Falani Aukuso, has died.
Mr Aukuso, who earlier served as general manager of Tokelau's public service, died in Fiji.
His death was announced in American Samoa where he was expected to address the closing ceremony of the Pacific Arts Festival.
The master of ceremony, Fagafaga Daniel Langkilde, says Mr Aukuso fell ill in Suva and died.
American Samoa's lieutenant governor Faoa Sunia has extended condolences to Mr Aukuso's family as well as the government and the delegation from Tokelau.
