American Samoa's Chamber of Commerce has welcomed the awarding of the School Lunch Programme supply contracts to a majority of local vendors.
The chamber had raised concerns about the School Lunch Programme bidding being opened up to off-island companies for the first time.
However 9 out of ten product categories were awarded to four local companies, in the amount of $2.25 million.
Seven local vendors and three off-island companies submitted bids, with just one off- island company, Chevalier of New Zealand being awarded a contract.
