The Fiji interim government says contrary to some media reports, there will be no increase in electricity charges next week.
The announcement was made by the interim energy minister, Mahendra Chaudhry, following an advertisement by the Commerce Commission.
Mr Chaudhry says it is the government that makes a final decision on whether to implement any increase in fuel surcharge granted by the Commerce Commission.
He has told the Fiji Times that the increase has to be considered by Cabinet before any hike in fuel surcharge is granted by the Commission.
