Teenage pregnancies fall in American Samoa

American Samoa's Health Department says there has been a marked drop in the number of teenage pregnancies in the territory.

Figures for last year show 95 babies born to teenage mothers.

According to Department of Health statistics, two of last year's teen mothers were 15-year-olds; nine were 16-year-olds; 16 were 17 year-olds; 24 were 18 year-olds; and 44 were 19-year-olds.

From 1996 to 2006, there were a number of births by girls aged between 11 and 14.
