The Solomon Islands Governor General says he intends to hold government ministers responsible for providing assistance to tsunami victims.
Sir Nathaniel Waena this week attended a ceremony to mark the first anniversary of the earthquake and tsunami disaster which wreaked havoc in Western and Choiseul provinces.
As well as attending the Western province ceremony, Sir Nathaniel also visited some of the areas worst hit by the tsunami which left more than 50 people dead.
The Governor-General was reported to be shocked to see that many local people who were displaced by the tsunami are still living in tents.
Provincial leaders have complained over the continued delay in assistance funds from central government.
They say despite the passing of a year and promises of assistance for shelter and basic needs for the victims, nothing has materialised.
On Wednesday, the Prime Minister told Parliament a Commission of Inquiry will be set up to look into the flawed delivery of emergency supplies by officials.
