Supermarket in Samoa stops making loaves of bread due to expense

A supermarket in Samoa has stopped making loaves of bread until the government approves a price increase.

Siaosi's store in Lotopa says higher costs of ingredients has made bread baking uneconomical.

Vernia Mah Yuen told the Samoa Observer they cannot hike the price of bread to meet costs because the government has not approved a price increase.

She said their store can't sell a loaf of bread at the old price because they're losing money due to the high cost of diesel, flour and electricity.
