Moti to go this afternoon says Solomon Islands Government

2:16 pm on 27 December 2007

The new Solomon Islands Government says the former Attorney General Julian Moti will be deported from the country this afternoon.

Mr Moti was sacked as Attorney General last week - one of the first actions of the new Dr Derek Sikua led Government.

Mr Moti, an Australian citizen, has been sought by Australian authorities for more than a year to answer outstanding child sex charges.

He has made several legal efforts to prevent his deportation but the new Government's chief of staff, Mathew Wale, says he will be flown to Brisbane this afternoon.

"He will be on the flight at three o'clock in the afternoon, Solomon Islands time."
