Vanuatu's parliament has given approval for the International Finance Corporation, or IFC, to carry out a study on the possibility of selling shares of the national carrier.

The Daily Post reports that the government is looking at offloading 46 percent shares of Air Vanuatu.

The service of the World Bank Group member Corporation was sought following its successful work with Polynesian Airlines, which is being run by Virgin Blue.

Once the study is completed and the government accepts it, the IFC will put out a notice of tender for international bidding.
