Police in Samoa suspect methamphetamine smuggled in overseas parcel

The police in Samoa suspect a parcel sent from the United States may have contained 3.3 grams of methamphetamine which was found in a police raid recently.

The assistant police commissioner and spokesman, Papalii Li'o, says the investigation is now focused on how the parcel was able to get through customs at the airport and the post office without being detected by sniffer dogs.

However police are also not ruling out the possibility that the parcel may have been brought in by an incoming traveler.

Meanwhile the two men arrested last week relating to the police raid in this case have been charged with possession of narcotics and are due to appear in the Supreme Court this week.
