Business people from Samoa arrive for Joint Samoa Trade Exhibition in American Samoa

11:23 am on 22 November 2007

Business people from Samoa have began arriving for the Joint Samoa Trade Exhibition, which opens tomorrow at the Tradewinds Hotel in Pago Pago.

Close to 50 companies will be exhibiting their goods and services with an emphasis on traditionally designed textiles.

An opening cocktail reception will be held tonight, and a fashion show will feature some of Samoa's top fashion houses.

The President of the Samoa Association of Manufacturers and Exporters Papalii Grant Percival says the potential for trading on the regional and world market is great if both Samoa and American Samoa combined forces.

"American Samoa has a GDP of about 550 million US and Samoa is around 450 million US. That gives us a billion US dollar market. And you know its stronger if its all in one."

Grant Percival.

The joint trade fair ends on Saturday.
