A breakaway group of Nauru MPs says they are confident of winning a no-confidence motion against the government of Ludwig Scotty.
In a media statement, Dr Kieren Keke, who resigned as health minister last week, says Mr Scotty no longer has the support of the 18-member parliament.
Although he did not confirm a no-confidence motion would be launched today, he indicated it was being considered.
Dr Keke says Mr Scotty will more than likely need the support of his arch-enemy and former president, Rene Harris, and two other opposition members if his government to survive a no confidence vote.
Three ministers in Nauru including Dr Keke, the Rehabilitation Minister Frederick Pitcher and the Justice Minister Roland Kun, resigned last week over concerns about Finance and Foreign Minister, David Adeang.
Earlier this week, the breakaway group had alleged that Mr Adeang was at the centre of allegations of improper conduct involving Asian businessmen, and that Mr Scotty had refused to act over their concerns.
As well they were upset that Mr Adeang's father, Nauru's High Commissioner to Fiji, had verbally abused two ministers.
