Doctors from Taiwan are due to arrive in Solomon Islands shortly to help set up a health centre at the National Referral Hospital in Honiara.

The First Secretary to the Taiwanese Embassy, Ben Wang, says the doctors will be operating from their new office located in phase three of the hospital project.

Mr Ben told the Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation that the move was part of Taiwan's active engagement in various cooperation and assistance in the health sector in Solomon Islands.

He says the health experts are specialists in nursing, cardiac surgery and other health sector.

Mr Ben says the medical arrangement is part of the on-going cooperative program between Taiwan and Solomon Islands under the 2006 Palau Declaration.
