10:16 am on 25 September 2007

American Samoa has asked Samoa to join in a project to relocate an undersea fibre-optic cable.

During inter Samoa talks last week, Governor Togiola Tulafono told Samoa Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi that American Samoa has signed a letter of

intent to redeploy the PacRim East undersea fibre-optic cable from Hawaii to American Samoa.

The capacity of the cable exceeds the needs of American Samoa and Samoa is being invited to join the venture which would enable Samoa to have connectivity

by mid 2008.
