Solomon Islands is continuing to push for a place for Taiwan in the United Nations.

In a debate at the U-N General Committee, Solomon Islands representative, Collin Beck, said the issue of Taiwan has not been discussed in the General assembly since the Cold war era.

The Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation quotes Mr Beck as saying that Solomon Islands wants to see the General Committee examine the Taiwanese application objectively.

He said since the inception of the United Nations, Taiwan had existed as a state in its own right with a defined territory, population and diplomatic ties.
