Preparations are taking place for the 2007 Economic Census of American Samoa and most businesses can expect to receive census forms in the mail between the months of October and December.

The first ever econmic census for American Samoa was carried out in 2002.

Samoa News reports that the local Department of Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce are working with the officials of the U.S. Bureau of Census currently on island to set things in place before the survey commences in October and November.

The Economic Census collects information about each industry and geographic area and publishes complete and accurate statistics.

Final results of the census are to be released in early 2008.
