Fiji has won both the men and women's glamour events, the 100 metre sprints, at the South Pacific Games in Samoa.

Papua new Guinea's, Wally Kirikia, picked up the bronze.

It was a photo finish in the women's race as the top two sprinters in Oceania fought out the right to be number one.

Fiji's Makelesi Bulikiobo came from behind to beat hot favourite Mae Koime of Papua New Guinea in a time of 11-point 7-9 seconds to set a new South Pacific Games record.

Meanwhile Papua New Guinea scored a trifecta in the 800 metre women's final and Samoa's, Aunese Curreen, won the men's 800 metre final.
