New Caledonia sets early pace in decathlon at South Pacific Games

New Caledonia's Georgy Outurau has picked up more points in the second event of the decathlon at the South Pacific Games in Samoa.

After taking out the 100 metres sprint Outurau has won the long jump with a distance of seven-point-1 metres.

Tahiti's Leon Mengloi has finished second with 6-point one five metres and Fiji's Harold Nair, was third with six-point-zero nine metres.

Meanwhile the semi finalist field has been decided for the men's 800 metres with two representatives from Tahiti, two from Papua New Guinea, one from Samoa and one each from Solomon Islands and Fiji.

Vanuatu's Arnold Sorina has posted the fastest time at one minute 58-point-24 seconds
