The 38 member Tokelau team has arrived in Samoa for the South Pacific Games in Apia after a 28 hour ferry ride.

They're the first to arrive and will compete in the Va'a Regatta.

Along with their competitive spirit and athletic prowess, the Tokelaun team brought their own Va'a or canoes along to ensure they could continue their training regime in the lead up to the games.

The SPG Va'a Regatta is scheduled to begin on Monday 3rd September and will run for four days closing with the Men's V6 thirty kilometer marathon on Thursday 6th September.

The SPG office says that most teams will start to arrive tomorrow and Friday before the official opening on Saturday evening at the Apia Park stadium.
