The New Zealand Educational Institute is backing the striking members of the Fijian Teachers Association.
Workers from the Teachers Association, the Public Employees Union and the Viti National Union of Taukei Workers want better pay and to work until they are 60.
The NZEI president Irene Cooper has called on the Fiji government to reinstate the president of the teacher's association Tevita Koroi who was sacked on Wednesday.
Ms Cooper says the Fiji government must respect the rights of people to take legitemate strike action over a reduction in employment conditions.
