Fiji's interim government has lifted its travel ban against outspoken Suva lawyer Graham Leung, but he still plans to go to court over the matter.
Mr Leung's lawyer, Jon Apted, says his client is now free to travel, according to a report in the Fiji Times.
Mr Apted says this will not stop Mr Leung from pursuing his application for a judicial review of the matter, which is currently before Justice Jitendra Singh.
Mr Leung tried to fly to New Zealand for a conference on Monday but was stopped at Nadi Airport.
This sparked criticism of the interim regime both locally and abroad.
Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama yesterday said Mr Leung would not be leaving the country any time soon and suggested he could stowaway instead.
A similar ban against the head of Fiji's Women's Crisis Centre, Shamima Ali, was lifted last night.
A spokesman for Commodore Bainimarama would not comment this morning.
