Hawaii strengthens small business role

Hawaii has strengthened the role of thousands of small businesses in the state's regulatory process.

With the passage of Senate Bill 188, the new law requires state agencies to listen to the voice of small businesses earlier on in the regulatory process.

It also expands the duties of Hawaii's Small Business Regulatory Review Board, and requires agencies to review existing rules that affect small business, annually.

The Hawaii Reporter says Governor Linda Lingle signed the bill into law.
