NZ prime minister says Pacific Forum needs to decide on Fiji's attendence

The New Zealand Prime Minister, Helen Clark, says she still intends to go to the Pacific Islands Forum, even though Fiji's military leader Frank Bainimarama says he will also be there.

The Forum is working to encourage a return to democracy in Fiji through a joint working group of officials from Pacific nations.

Miss Clark says there is a lot of water to go under the bridge yet about who attends the leaders' meeting in Tonga in October.

She says Fiji's self-imposed Government will need to discuss with the Forum what the appropriate level of representation is.
