Two overseas manufacturing companies have shown an interest in setting up business in American Samoa.

A mattress company in Fiji and a New Zealand company that makes airport handling equipment have been referred to the territory's Chamber of Commerce by the Fiji based New Zealand Trade Commissioner.

The Chamber's President David Robinson says officials from the Fiji company, who will visit the territory next week, want to manufacture mattresses for export to the U.S. and is interested in a joint partner venture.

The New Zealand company has plans to manufacture ground loading equipment for export.
