The Fiji-based youth employment program - The Foundation for Rural Integrated Enterprises and Development, or FRIEND, has won the Nelson Mandela Graca Machel award in Scotland.
FRIEND coordinator, Sashi Karan, said two out of the three awards went to Nigeria while the third went to Fiji after three days of heavy discussions at the 7th Civicus World Assembly.
She told Fiji Live that 'FRIEND" was selected a winner from proposals made by organisations from 13 countries around the world and was the first from the Pacific region to claim the award.
