The police in Fiji are yet to forward a file on their investigations into a youth who died following his detention by the military and an alleged beating.

The death of 19 year old Sakiusa Rabaka occurred in February, a month after that of Tailevu villager, Nimilote Verebasaga, whose body was recovered after he'd been taken to the military camp.

Last month, police said they were close to wrapping up their investigation into Mr Rabaka's death.

But, the acting police commissioner, Romanu Tikotikoca, says that may happen this week

"The file of Nimilote Verebasaga has already been submitted to the office of the director of prosecutions. The file of investigations concerning the death of Rabaka - that one hopefully will be submitted to the office of director of public prosecutions this week and that is for their scrutiny and assessment and advice."
