The Interim Fijian Affairs Minister, Ratu Epeli Ganilau, has been allowed to transit through New Zealand to go to Samoa to attend the funeral of Samoa's Head of State, Malietoa Tanumafili II.

The New Zealand High Commission says Ratu Epeli and his delegation are going to attend a special Pacific occasion and based on that they will be allowed through Auckland to go to Samoa.

Earlier, the New Zealand government announced that they would place travel sanctions against anyone involved in the December 5th coup and any person taking up positions after the takeover.
