Mourning for Wallis king stops cargo ship

The mourning for the late king of Wallis has prevented the unloading of a cargo ship.

Local television says the MV Southern Moana had been left moored as the island was in its mourning period for the King, Tomasi Kulimoetoke, who died last week.

This has raised concern about the security of supplies to the islands.

The shipping agency says it has told the chiefs and the French administration that if there is no quick response, the vessel will skip Wallis and Futuna and continue its regional tour to Fiji and Vanuatu.
