Reservists from the US Army Reserve unit in American Samoa will be mobilised early next month to the US mainland in preparation for deployment to Iraq for a one-year tour of active duty.

A spokesman for the Honolulu-base Pacific Army Reserve, Lt. Col. Howard Sugai, says the mobilisation involves about 29 soldiers.

They are scheduled to depart Pago Pago American Samoa for Fort Hood in Texas.
