There seems contrasting build ups to this weekend's rugby trials in two Pacific island nations.

In Fiji there's been disquiet about the fitness of Pacific Rugby Cup players as they prepare for Saturday's Pacific Nation's Cup trial with questions about whether they'd adhered to fitness programmes set before the Cup.

But Tongan rugby High Performance Manager and Tonga assistant coach, Ellis Meechan says things look good for Saturday's Pacific Nations Cup trial in Nuku' Alofa.

Meechan says player have been disciplined and focussed about their fitness.

Meechan expects around 60-70 players to trial and they aim to name their 26 strong Nations Cup squad on Monday.
