Solomon Airlines begins Brisbane to Honiara flight today

Solomon Airlines will begin flying its newly acquired Embraer 170 aircraft in its maiden flight from Brisbane to Honiara today.

A delegation which comprises the airline management and seven government ministers is in Australia for the unveiling of the 75-seater aircraft.

On March 14, the airline signed a three year partnership lease agreement with Australian charter operator, SkyAir World, but the value of the lease hasn't been revealed.

Solomon Airlines told the SIBC its the first commercial airline to operate this type of aircraft in Australia and the South Pacific region.
