American Samoa planning to boost fish exports

The America Samoa Governor Togiola Tulafono has promised to boost local fish exports to the U.S and Asia by utilizing the current weekly cargo flight.

Speaking on his weekend radio program the governor said he had met with an Asia Pacific Air official whose aircraft is currently been utilized for the weekly cargo flight that arrives every Friday from Honolulu.

Governor Togiola requested the meeting to discuss air service and how the company can assist in local economic business development.

He says one of the issues that was discussed is the movement of large volumes of cargo by air.

The governor says this is the perfect opportunity for American Samoa to boost fish exports because of the demand in Hawaii, the mainland and Asian countries.

He says he plans to return to Honolulu soon to meet with fish buyers and brokerage companies to finds ways of distributing and selling fish exports.
