The Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce says good governance continues to be a problem in the country.

The Chamber's Chairman, Peter Goodwin, says in its 2006 Report that a clear message has to be sent that the private sector needs to be provided with a stable and threat free economy if the people and country are to thrive and prosper.

The Solomon Island Broadcasting Corporation quotes Mr Goodwin as saying says that a strong economy means more jobs for the people.

He says Governance goes to the root of many of the nation's problems and in his view illicit dealings, cronyism and nepotism are widespread.
