Second group of New Zealand soldiers on assignment to RAMSI

A second group of New Zealand territorial force soldiers leaves for Solomon Islands this morning (9am) on a four-month deployment."

The group will replace NZ soldiers who have been serving with the Regional Assistance Mission, RAMSI, for the past four months.

The contingent, which is drawn from territorial force regiments based in Auckland and Tauranga, has been undergoing training for some weeks.

It will perform regular patrols, assist RAMSI police in downtown Honiara, and help with external security at Rove Prison.
