A 19-year old youth in Fiji is reported to have died from injuries he received while in military custody.
Sakiusa Rabaka of Votualevu near Nadi and two others were picked up by soldiers from near his home on January the 28th as part of the military's crackdown on drug dealers.
His mother, Alanieta Rabaka, claims that while in custody, her son was made to run around with bags of sand on his back and later made to crawl on the ground while he was beaten and kicked.
She says Sakiusa vomited continuously and had epileptic fits when released.
Mrs Rabaka says doctors diagnosed head and kidney injuries and he underwent surgery but died on Saturday night.
She says the sudden death of their son has left the family in shock and they are demanding answers.
The military spokesman, Major Neumi Leweni, says he is not in a position to respond because the matter is under investigation.
The Fiji Village newsite says police have now officially started the investigations in relation to the death.
