Not a good Super 14 weekend for New Zealand teams

7:23 am on 19 February 2007

The South African rugby sides the Sharks and the Cheetahs have made the most of playing at home in the first 3 rounds of the Super 14 as they top the table.

The Sharks are unbeaten after toppling the Highlanders, while the Cheetahs are 2 from 3 after beating the Waratahs.

The Hurricanes were the only New Zealand team to win over the week with their close victory over the Blues, while the other 3 franchises all lost in South Africa.

Last year's wooden spooners the Western Force continue to be the suprise package, picking up their second straight win in South Africa with victory over the Bulls.

So the Sharks have 12 points, Cheetahs 10, Force, Blues, Brumbies and Hurricanes 9.

The Crusaders and Highlanders have 6 points and Chiefs 4 from 4 bonus points.

In next week's feature matches the Hurricanes host the Brumbies, the Blues host the Reds and the Crusaders have another tough one in South Africa against the Cheetahs.
