Fiji's Methodist Church has again revised its view of the military overthrow of the government and the role of President Ratu Josefa Iloilo.
Accoring to the fijivillage.com website, the assistant general secretary, the Reverend Tuikilakila Waqairatu, says the church is again urging Ratu Josefa to leave office.
Earlier this month, it made a similar call and asked the coup leader, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, to resign.
But the statement was retracted, with church official saying its release had been rushed.
It said the use of military power to usurp the mandate of an elected government set a dangerous precedent in the governance of the country.
When the military moved to overthrow the government in December, the President's office issued a statement, saying it didn't condone or support the army action.
But last month, President Iloilo granted immunity from prosecution to all those involved in the coup and swore in the military-appointed interim administration after Commodore Bainimarama stopped purporting to be the President.
