The Pacific Community based in New Caledonia has put together a plan which could see every Pacific Island person have access to Information and Communication Technology or ICT.

The move follows on the Pacific Plan devised by the Forum Secretariat around three years ago which included looking at how to improve communication through the Pacific region.

The Pacific Community's Director General Jimmie Rodgers says ICT plan includes partnerships with the Telecommunications company TELCOS and governments.

"The technology that we are looking at which uses now the only satellite that covers the whole Pacific footprint at very low cost, putting in place in practically every villages at a cost that is quite a fraction of the current costs."
