Fiji's deposed prime minister, Laisenia Qarase, has been due to meet the Eminent Persons' Group sent by the Pacific Islands Forum today.
The military regime has banned Mr Qarase from the capital, Suva, prompting the EPG to visit him in Vanuabalavu.
Speaking to the fijivillage website, Mr Qarase says he will urge the EPG to push for a quick return to democracy.
"Getting Fiji back to democratic rule as early as possible. I think a majority of the people would like that to happen as early as possible. We has heard from the interim administration that they a time span of 3 to 5 years. I think that is rather too long and it can be shortened."
