Third by-election to be held in Samoa electorate after series of petitions

11:02 am on 9 January 2007

The constituency of Fa'asalele'aga number 2 in Samoa will go to the polls on February 2nd for the third time since the general election held in March last year.

This follows two court decisions last year which had declared void the election of two MPs who were found guilty of corrupt practices in two separate election petition cases.

The former MP, Pa'u Sefo Pa'u, who was elected after the general election was found guilty of bribery and treating, followed by his daughter, Letoa Rita Pa'u, who was elected in the first by-election held last September.

Meanwhile three candidates have so far declared themselves to run for the ruling HRPP party in next month's election.
