Manu Samoa coach Jones quits - report

4:27 pm on 22 December 2006

Reports from Samoa say the coach of the Manu Samoa rugby team, Michael Jones, is understood to have resigned from the position ahead of next month's tour of South Africa.

A reliable source says the written resignation was received by the chairman of the rugby union board.

Last night, the Manu Samoa players left for New Zealand where they will make some final adjustments for four days before they fly to South Africa.

The Samoa rugby union board has called an urgent meeting this afternoon at the office of the prime minister Tuila'epa Sa'ilele Malielegaoi's, who is also the chairman of the board to discuss the matter.
