The American Samoa Senate has served subpoenas on two board members of the government Employees Retirement Fund and the Retirement Office executive director.
The subpoenas, which were served on board chairman Aleki Sene Sr., and board member Lt. Gov. Ipulasi Sunia as well as executive director Filisouaiga Ta'afua, are to obtain documents requested by the Senate but yet to be handed over by the retirement fund.
Among the documents being subpoenaed are any and all information regarding travel for board members as well as the executive director.
Also being subpoenaed are records of all bank accounts for the $208 million pension plan.
The two local banks have been served separate subpoenas to provide the information.
Three other board members, currently off island, are also to be served with subpoenas.
If the requested documents are not provided, a senate committee will convene to decide on their next course of action, which includes filing contempt charges with the high court, or the past practice of setting another deadline for delivery.
